McLeod Racing Speeds Up Parts Delivery

When a customer needs a clutch before race day, a delayed shipment can mean a missed event. McLeod Racing ships high-performance automotive parts from its Orange, California, warehouse to distributors, racing teams and individual customers. It needed dependable delivery across both LTL freight and parcel shipping.

The challenge: Too many carriers and unpredictable delivery

McLeod’s shipping team worked with multiple carriers, each with its own pricing, tracking and claims process. Lost or damaged shipments added pressure, and some delivery windows stretched to two weeks. For customers preparing for an upcoming race, that uncertainty was difficult to manage.

The solution: One shipping partner

McLeod turned to Worldwide Express to manage its LTL freight shipping and consolidate parcel shipping under one partner. The arrangement gave its shipping manager a single relationship for coordinating carriers and addressing shipment issues.

“I feel like with Worldwide Express, there are just a lot of good LTL partners.”

McLeod now ships roughly 70 LTL freight shipments and more than 200 parcel shipments each month. Delivery windows that once reached two weeks have shortened to a handful of days. Its parcel shipping costs fell 20% to 25%, and McLeod reported no lost or damaged shipments in its first four-plus months with Worldwide Express.

“Getting that two-week window down to a handful of days with Worldwide Express has been kind of a game changer.”

A partnership beyond the shipment

Worldwide Express also developed a sponsorship program for Paul Lee Racing, McLeod’s race team. A portion of McLeod’s freight spend helps support the team, which competes in 20 markets a year. Cole sees an opportunity to extend the shipping relationship to other Wharton Automotive Group companies.

For McLeod, more reliable automotive parts shipping helps customers get ready for race day—and gives its own team fewer delivery problems to resolve.
